Embryo co-cultivation

Co-cultivation of embryos increases the chances for success in in-vitro fertilization. The procedure is performed successfully only in Ob/Gyn “Dr. Shterev”.

The Co-cultivation of embryos or as it is more popular the “artificial womb” method is already routine performed procedure in Ob/Gyn “Dr. Shterev”. The first baby born after the execution of this method in Ob/Gyn “Dr. Shterev” came during November 2007. In 2008 – up to now generally 19 of our patients conceived and gave birth after in vitro or ICSI procedure performed along with co-cultivation method. For the execution of the procedure are necessary several parts of the uterus mucosa. They are extracted in a certain day of the menstruation when the uterus mucosa is mostly receptive to embryos. The extraction of these cells stimulates the development of the uterus mucosa which contributes for raising the chances of successful implantation of the embryos additionally.

The extracted cells are cultivated and reproduced in special incubator. Until their placement in the “artificial womb” the cultivated cells are stored frozen. The woman is put under hormonal stimulation and several days before the puncture of follicles the frozen cells are defrost and prepared to accept the fertilized ova. Thus the growing of the embryos is stimulated and when the time to be replaced (the embryos) into the mother comes their attachment become more securely because the mother “recognizes” them. The embryos have better receptiveness and with better chances for successful implantation. The pregnancy after co-cultivation procedure passes as the natural pregnancy and the children born in that way do not differ from the other kids.
